An-Anon-Author-Who-Will-Silently-Not-Reveal-Her-Identity-Because-She's-A-Coward is the self-given handle of the person who hacked Tara Gilesbie's FF.n account and posted an actually coherent version of Chapter 39, as well as several of Tara's drafts for My Immortal. It remains unclear if "Anon-Author" merely refuses to give out her real name or if she is a member of Anonymous.

There are multiple theories surrounding the identity of the author:

  • Raven wrote the chapter, in exasperation with Tara.
  • The anonymous hacker is exactly who she says she is.
  • Tara wrote Chapter 39, after having an epiphany and deciding that she needed to turn on spell check. However, this only lasted for one chapter, in which "Tara" makes fun of herself.
  • If the real author of My Immortal is a troll, then they wrote the chapter after deciding that they needed a break from writing bad fanfiction.

The last two possibilities imply this might have been a false false operation of some sort, as means to misdirect people from guessing that My Immortal is a parody. However, multiple individuals have been known to hack Tara's account, so this being legitimate third/fourth/millionth party cannot be readily discredited.

Feature film[]

In the Internet Historian's feature film reading of the novel, the hacker was planned, and lines for her were recorded by Chris Raygun. The lines, as well as the character, were cut from the final reading as the Historian felt that the events were so implausible that he felt the viewers would think he fabricated the events.

Trivia[]

  • According to her, she didn't read the entire fic before she posted her chapter.
